FAME

FAME is a private mediation service for couples entering into a divorce. 

Why choose mediation?
Regardless of how much conflict there exists between the parties, or what form this conflict takes, mediation is an effective way to resolve all issues in a way that will leave each party comfortable with the result.

How much will this cost me?
In place of separate meetings with different divorce attorneys, FAME relies on direct communication with both parties. As legal costs are not incurred by each party separately, you will save costs.

What about my children?
Any good parent wants what is best for his or her children. In mediation we look beyond the immediate solution and encourage you to work together to plan for after-divorce circumstances in order to promote child-focused parenting. 

What about my house and other assets?
FAME mediates all disputes between parties. This includes the fair division of assets. Regardless of whether you have children or not, or whether you are just concerned about the welfare of your pets, we can help you find a solution that both parties will be comfortable with.

How long will this take?
FAME’s services can save months of delays in statutory investigations by encouraging disputing parties to understand their respective situations and to reach agreements which will be acceptable to the Family Advocate’s Office. 

What happens if mediation doesn’t work, will everything I have said in mediation be used against me in court?
Approximately 90% of couples, who enter into mediation, resolve all their disputes through mediation. You can explore options and alternatives in a safe and confidential environment, without fear that statements or questions will be used against you in court. 

What happens once we reach agreement?
When agreement is reached, a consent paper is prepared for the parties’ signature and the matter placed on the roll for disposition by counsel.
